The Grid is an exciting collaboratively edited 3D directory of businesses and places that helps you find anything, anywhere. A completely open source, free endeavour with an aim of cataloging and identifying just about anything and every place of interest in this unique and stunning country, New Zealand.
Anyone can help the project by contributing their time and knowledge … The Grid is built in world-class software and hosted on powerful, secure, dedicated servers in one of the world’s most advanced data centres and fastidiously backed up daily. Your contributions will be available for the world and for generations to come.
Work together to make The grid to better for everyone … Information of the many and varied places to see and visit are scattered around in books, journals, databases, websites and in the minds of people across the country. Imagine what it would mean if this information could be gathered together and made available to everyone – anywhere – at a moment’s notice.
This dream is becoming a reality through The Grid.
The Grid is compiled collaboratively largely by volunteers with knowledge of a specialised area. Anyone can write and make changes to The Grid. Users can contribute anonymously, under a pseudonym, or, if they choose to, with their real identity and an accreditation, a short bio and link to a website if desired.
Our Vision: Global access to knowledge about any point of interest and make it easily accessible to anyone.
